The Department of Neurosurgery in Xuanwu Hospital, in cooperation with Prof.
M.G. Yasargil, the founder of modern microneurosurgery, established a training
center of microsurgery named after Yasargil with Prof.Ling Feng serving as its
Director.
This marble stele symbolizes a solid foundation for neurosurgery, The prints of
Yasargil's hands tell us that high-level microneurosurgical skills gained
through arduous training can bring more hope to the life of many patients. The
six huge volumes of microneurosurgery composed by Prof. Yasargil is one of the
most authoritative and most thoroughly expounded writings of the techniques and
clinical anatomy of microneurosurgery.
Yasargil Microsurgery Training Center is well equipped with such sophisticated
instruments as 6 single-arm bioptical microscopes sponsored by Zeiss Company, a
dual-purpose operating table designed and manufactured by the Training center
itself for microsurgery training and head anatomical training, a full range of
high-quality microsurgical opearating tools providing a superb environment for
trainees in practical work. The center uses 4 textbooks including Introduction
of Microsurgery, Teaching of microneurosurgery, etc. The center also provides
many real specimens for the trainees so that their knowledge about
neuro-anatomy can be consolidated.
At the classes, trainees can practice microscopic operating skills on
experimental animal. Prof. Ling Feng, concurrently Chief Doctor of the
Neurosurgery Department, often takes them in the teaching ward-rounds and
illustrates the key points in neurosurgical anatomy and operation. They can
also observe microneurosurgical operations in action performed by professors of
XuanWu hospital and invited professors. Comprehensive studies in all directions
lay a good foundation for the trainees, not only to raise their operating
skills but also their conception of microneurosurgery.
Yasargil Microsurgical Training Center has 3 sessions in each year, Each one lasts 4 months: February to May; June to September; October to January . Registration should be completed 2 months before the opening. Each session accepts 12 trainees. |
